Here at Burns Sheehan, we are working with one of sport's most recognised organisations as they continue to build out a modern, cloud‑first data platform. Technology is playing an increasingly central role in performance, analytics, and decision‑making across the business, with a clear investment in Azure and data‑driven infrastructure. They are now looking for a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to take ownership of their cloud platform, supporting the delivery of advanced analytics capabilities used across both technical and commercial teams. This is a hands‑on role with real influence, sitting at the centre of platform engineering, DevOps, and data infrastructure. You’ll be joining a team building out a highly scalable Azure environment, supporting everything from data pipelines to real‑time analytics and reporting platforms. There is a strong focus on automation, platform reliability, and continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable Azure‑based platforms with a focus on resilience, governance, and cost control
- Own infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using Terraform
- Lead on CI/CD strategy, implementation, and ongoing optimisation across platform services
- Support and enhance data platforms, including Azure Databricks and associated pipelines
- Implement and manage monitoring and observability tooling (Grafana, Datadog, Elastic)
- Drive improvements across automation, deployment processes, and platform reliability
- Collaborate closely with data and engineering teams to support analytics and reporting use cases
- Contribute to best practices across platform engineering, security, and governance
Essential Requirements
- Strong experience designing and operating Azure‑based platforms in production environments
- Proven expertise with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
- Hands‑on experience owning CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
- Experience with containerisation (Docker) and exposure to Kubernetes environments
- Strong understanding of identity and access management within cloud platforms
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions
- Strong scripting capability (Python, Bash or similar)
