Head of Business Intelligence & Data
Location: Watford (3 days a week on site)
Salary: £110,000-£120,000 + bonus + car allowance
About the role:
Are you ready to build a modern data function from the ground up? We’re seeking a visionary, strategic, and hands-on Head of Business Intelligence & Data to lead the creation of a world-class data ecosystem. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape the data future of a fast-paced, high-growth, international organisation operating across IoT, critical infrastructure, and high-volume real-time data environments.
You'll report directly to the CTO and collaborate with the executive board to create a data-driven culture that supports critical decisions across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Leadership
- Define and evolve the company’s data vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary data team, initially comprising engineers and analysts.
- Champion a data-first culture across all departments.
Architecture & Infrastructure
- Design and implement scalable data architecture (warehouses, lakehouses, real-time streaming).
- Select and integrate tools for ingestion, storage, transformation, and visualisation.
- Align the data ecosystem with wider enterprise architecture and technology strategy.
- Lead the development of Master Data Management, data ownership, and data quality initiatives.
Data Operations & Reporting
- Deliver robust and automated MI, BI, and performance reporting.
- Consolidate data sources into a single source of truth.
- Establish strong data governance and delivery frameworks.
- Support commercial teams with insights, forecasting, and margin analysis.
Advanced Analytics & Innovation
- Define a roadmap for AI and ML capabilities.
- Embed intelligence into digital products and services.
- Collaborate on innovation and stay current with emerging tech trends.
Risk, Compliance & Security
- Ensure compliance with regulations (GDPR, ISO 27001, etc.).
- Implement security protocols around data access, retention, and classification.
- Work with InfoSec and Legal to manage data risk and incident response.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership in fast-paced, evolving data environments.
- Expertise across data engineering, architecture, analytics, and ML/AI.
- Strong experience with cloud-native platforms and real-time data.
- Skilled in Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Spark or equivalent tools.
- Effective stakeholder communicator and team mentor.
- Background in IoT, telecoms, or connectivity is a plus.
