Director of Engineering - AI-Native B2B SaaS | Fast Growing Series B Scale-Up
Remote-First with hybrid London office option
Up to £200,000 plus strong stock options award
We're working with a rapidly scaling AI-native SaaS company to hire a Director of Engineering. Their platform is redefining the sector and, having raised an impressive Series B round from top tier VCs last year, they are now expanding their Engineering team to match the ambition of their product and customers. They have increased their ARR by more than 3x in the last 12 months.
As Director of Engineering, you will bring operational and organisational excellence, shaping the engineering org as it grows to implement process and structure without throttling velocity and autonomy, fostering a collaborative, high quality culture where individuals can thrive. You will need to demonstrate strong technical judgement to ensure your teams are delivering high quality products aligned to the technical and product strategy.
The platform uses Agentic AI to make sense of large volumes of unstructured data, streaming that data into the platform in real-time while extracting and enriching it with semantic meaning for the customer to gain valuable insights which will power their business. It is highly technical under the hood, but the user experience is designed to feel simple, fast and intuitive.
The Role
The current Engineering org is around 55 Engineers with plans to increase this to 100 by the end of the year. You will initially lead around 20 engineers across multiple teams, with scope expected to grow to 30 to 40 engineers within the next 6-12 months. This is a senior leadership role focused on building strong teams, improving operating cadence, and helping the engineering organisation scale smoothly through a period of rapid growth.
You’ll work closely with the VP Engineering and a small senior leadership group to shape how engineering operates, balancing speed, quality and structure without creating unnecessary process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop multiple engineering teams through a major growth phase.
- Coach Engineering Leads, senior ICs and individual contributors.
- Improve planning, delivery cadence, incident management and operational hygiene.
- Build clear ownership models and effective team structures.
- Partner closely with Product, Design and senior technical leaders.
- Help teams balance fast delivery with long-term scalability and engineering quality.
- Challenge technical decisions constructively and maintain a high bar for craft.
- Support hiring, on-boarding and leadership development as the team scales.
What They’re Looking For
You’ll likely have led multiple engineering teams in a high-growth product or SaaS environment and helped an organisation move from early-stage pace into more structured scale-up execution.
You do not need to be hands‑on day to day, but you should bring strong technical judgement and be comfortable challenging architectural decisions, guiding senior engineers, and understanding the trade-offs behind complex product and platform work.
This would suit an engineering leader who is highly collaborative, commercially aware, product-minded, and experienced in bringing the right amount of structure at the right time.
Why Join?
This is a chance to join a company with strong product‑market fit, major funding, rapid customer growth and a genuinely ambitious technical roadmap.
For the right engineering leader, it offers the opportunity to shape how a high‑quality engineering organisation scales, while working on a product where user experience, automation, real‑time data and AI are central to the company’s differentiation.
This is an amazing opportunity for a Director of Engineering to join an AI‑Native scale‑up building products their customers love at a critical point in their journey. Please reply with your CV or call Simon for a chat.
