Here at Burns Sheehan, we’re working with a fast-growing global ecommerce marketplace on the hire of a Principal Data Scientist to join their expanding data function.

The business operates at significant scale across international markets and is continuing to invest heavily in data science as a core capability. Pricing sits at the centre of their commercial strategy, and this role will focus on applying advanced modelling and experimentation to improve how millions of products are priced and sold.

This is a Senior IC rolewithin a growing data science team. You’ll work closely with the Data Science Manager, engineers and commercial stakeholders to solve complex pricing problems and help shape best practices across modelling, experimentation and production deployment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading complex pricing and experimentation initiatives and building / deploying statistical and machine learning models
  • Designing and analysing A/B tests, bandits and other experimentation approaches
  • Partnering with engineering to ensure models are production-ready and reliable
  • Mentoring other data scientists and contributing to best practices across modelling and experimentation
  • Helping identify further opportunities where data science can drive value across the business

What They’re Looking For:

  • Strong commercial experience applying data science in production environments
  • Experience within ecommerce, marketplaces, pricing or similar data-heavy domains
  • Expert Python and strong SQL
  • Deep knowledge of statistical modelling and machine learning
  • Strong experience designing and analysing experiments in real-world environments
  • Experience deploying and monitoring models in production
  • Comfortable influencing stakeholders and working through complex problems
