We’re supporting a fast-scaling marketplace business that is investing heavily in data, AI and product-led decision-making. This is a brilliant role for a senior data professional who wants to sit closer to product, customers and commercial outcomes, rather than operate as a reporting function.
You’ll be embedded in a product/platform squad, working alongside Product Managers, Engineers and Designers to turn data into better customer experiences, sharper commercial decisions and data-powered product features. The role is full-stack in direction, but you do not need to be world-class across everything from day one. You might be an analyst who wants to build more, or a data scientist who wants to get closer to product and business impact. The key is curiosity, strong fundamentals and the appetite to keep moving across analytics, data science and data engineering.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the data voice inside a product squad
- Analysing customer journeys, friction points, retention drivers and feature opportunities
- Connecting product work to commercial outcomes such as conversion, retention and margin
- Defining success metrics with Product and tracking feature performance
- Building fast POCs to show how data and AI can improve the customer experience
- Developing data-driven product features and data products
- Running A/B tests, holdouts, sample sizing and post-test analysis
- Owning certified metrics and semantic layer thinking for your squad’s domain
- Using LLMs and AI tools to speed up analysis, prototype ideas and support AI-augmented features
- Turning technical work into clear recommendations for stakeholders
Recent projects in the wider team have included recommendation engines, experimentation, natural language search, image analysis, customer intent scoring and AI-enabled product discovery.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong experience in a hands-on data role, ideally in e-commerce, marketplace, retail, consumer tech or product-led environments
- Strong SQL and working Python or R
- Good statistical foundations, including hypothesis testing, sample sizing and A/B testing
- Experience turning data into decisions, not just dashboards
- Product sense and commercial awareness
- Comfort working with modern data tooling, cloud warehouses and dashboarding principles
- An interest in applied AI, LLMs and how data can shape better customer experiences
- Strong stakeholder communication and storytelling skills
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Experience working as the data expert in an Agile product squad
- Exposure to semantic layers, certified metrics or metrics governance
- Experience prototyping data-driven product features
- Familiarity with AI evaluation, guardrails or non-deterministic model outputs
- A quantitative degree or equivalent technical background
This would suit someone who enjoys being close to the customer and the product, wants to use data to shape what gets built, and is excited by the direction data roles are moving in as AI becomes more embedded in day-to-day decision-making.
Benefits include:
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Wellbeing day
- 5% employer pension contribution
- Private healthcare
- EAP and employee discounts
- Learning and development support
- Volunteer days
- Dog-friendly office and active social calendar
