OverviewSenior Quantity Surveyor – T&D (Multiple Locations, UK)
This role provides commercial leadership with opportunities to work at framework and project levels in all aspects of commercial control, with a focus on cost–value reconciliation. Experience with NEC3 or NEC4 (Option A & C) contracts within the power sector or similar is required. The role requires coordination with wider project teams on cost and risk management.
Responsibilities
Conduct monthly internal reporting through the CVR and internal commercial management procedures.
Conduct monthly reporting to the client in accordance with the contract and client reporting procedures.
Optimize cash flow through activity schedules, monthly valuations, and control of subcontractor accounts.
Drive the recovery of outstanding monies and resolve queries in a timely manner.
Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change events.
Manage change events in accordance with the contract (early warnings, CE notification, CE quotation, CE implementation, and updating cost and baselines).
Produce cost estimates and subcontract enquiries for tender proposals and compensation events.
Ensure project delivery teams adhere to risk management procedures and financial compliance.
Record commercial KPI data at project level and manage impacts on projects.
Maintain adherence to payment timescales.
Prepare and manage sub-contracts through to Final Account.
Work with project delivery teams to enforce business drivers and project outcomes.
Maximize profitability while considering client and subcontractor relations and risk/reward objectives.
Take ownership of performance with commercial and contractual acumen.
Assist with tender enquiries and costing activities using sound tender process knowledge.
Interact with clients and colleagues to achieve project objectives; manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Support development of junior personnel with commercial guidance and training needs.
Perform other duties as assigned and comply with policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor\’s Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related subject with 7 years of relevant experience, or Master\’s degree with 6 years of experience, or Foundation Degree/HND with 8 years of relevant experience.
Experience in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector preferred.
Awareness of construction methods, technology, standard forms of measurement, and NEC 3/NEC 4 (Options A & C).
Excellent computer literacy with MS Office.
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and analyze a project programme.
Chartered status or working towards chartership through RICS or a similar institution.
