This role involves establishing the Burns & McDonnell project execution systems and processes in the UK, building on the strong US capability. The position will manage supply chain partners, support front‑end winning activities, and oversee on‑site project delivery for a range of transmission and distribution projects across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Lead on all aspects of safety and CDM compliance for EPC projects in the portfolio.
- Manage and coordinate project execution for Transmission & Distribution EPC projects nationwide.
- Accountable for profit and loss of individual projects, ensuring successful completion within dates and maintaining professional relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation of EPC proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Provide overall project management from concept to completion, coordinating estimating, engineering, and procurement teams, and leading value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Drive project schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
- Lead project resourcing and contractor and supply‑chain management.
- Manage internal project financials, legal coordination, and risk management.
- Serve as primary client contact for all aspects of project delivery.
- Develop and implement UK‑specific project policies, procedures, and controls systems, including the execution plan.
- Confirm deliverables meet client satisfaction and report regularly on progress, cost, schedule, procurement, safety, environmental, and risk issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Report directly to the Construction Director in the UK.
- Build a world‑class project management capability and support recruitment of project staff as the business grows.
- Develop bid‑stage technical solutions with partners and the engineering team.
- Interact professionally with clients and colleagues to achieve project objectives.
- Manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines.
- Recognise and adapt to the needs of a rapidly growing business.
- Work autonomously and as part of a project team.
- Develop industry relationships to support future project delivery and opportunities, enhancing the Burns & McDonnell brand.
- Engage in personal professional development and industry bodies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 10 years of transmission and/or distribution project experience with at least 7 years of related project management experience.
- Relevant professional qualification or accreditation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- IT literacy, proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Membership of a relevant industry body (e.g., The IET, ICE, IMECHE) preferred.
