The predicted salary is between 60000 - 75000 € per year.
The role will oversee site mobilisation, pre-construction site operations, directing and organizing site activities to ensure that the planned work is delivered safely and on time; and monitoring that performance meets recognized standards of productivity, quality and compliance with essential health and safety provisions. Provide operational leadership and guidance for the project delivery teams on your allocated project and support the Field Operations Manager and SHE Director with the implementation of all procedures and policies whilst providing support and guidance to other members of the site management and delivery team. Complete all necessary internal reporting to a high standard and lead by example when interfacing with external parties such as clients, project stakeholders, sub-consultants/subcontractors, enforcement agencies, local planning authorities & statutory bodies. The individual should be experienced in delivering all aspects of substation works, including civil, M&E, cabling and fencing works.
Responsibilities
- Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure the requirements are implemented.
- Manage compliance with CDM regulations on site.
- Lead and motivate a team, including Sub-Contractors, to deliver all aspects of planning and operations.
- Deliver the planned work safely and on time, adhering to the requirements of the client and Burns & McDonnell.
- Produce roster for the staff under their management.
- Assist in the recruitment of suitably competent staff to complete activities.
- Undertake detailed site inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of site resources, materials and plant.
- Provide daily resource sheets, weekly plant returns, weekly materials returns and subcontract performance reports.
- Produce reports or provide information in a timely manner.
- Attend and cascade briefings as directed and in a timely manner.
- Perform on-call duties as directed.
- To perform fluidity tasks to ensure work can be executed on time and without issue.
- To liaise with customers, clients, local authorities and other interested third parties regarding past, present or future works.
- To provide sufficient and timely supervision, assessment and coaching to ensure sub-contractors are performing to agreed production levels.
- To ensure quality checks are completed in line with the contract specification and contract statement of requirements.
- To regularly undertake all necessary and appropriate Toolbox Talks, Briefings and other communications.
- To maintain own levels of skill and knowledge to do the job effectively.
- To perform other duties as directed by your line manager or management team.
- To comply with the relevant Company HSQE and welfare policy provisions.
- To support client and ensure all agreed KPIs are met or exceeded.
- To ensure operative records are accurate and kept up to date each week.
- Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company's Environmental policies and processes including external stakeholders such as customers if necessary.
- Assist and/or manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents.
- Promote best practice, capture best practice and ensure it is fed-back into the business.
- Set standards and lead by example in health, safety, quality & environmental management.
- Provide holiday cover to and additional support to projects in construction as well as provide additional support to the SHE department with their site operations when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 7 years of experience.
- HND in a related field and 8 years of experience.
- HNC in a related field and 9 years of relevant experience.
- General Certificate of Secondary Education and 10 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of Site Management of HV Substation construction.
- Full UK driving licence.
- National Grid Competent Person NSI 6 & 8.
- Full Previous TP137 or SR163 appointment (will be formally assessed by Burns & McDonnell).
- IOSHH Managing Safely or SMSTS.
- IOSH environmental or equivalent.
- HSG47 First Aid (Full 3 day).
- Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor.
- Knowledge or training of the management of Impressed Voltages.
- NEBOSH General/ Construction Certificate (Desirable).
- Varied knowledge of substation equipment from various OEM's.
- Must have the right interpersonal skills and communication skills to build a culture of trust with the site team.
- Must have a strong civil, LV & HV knowledge.
- The ability to empathise, communicate and influence stakeholders and the Project Team.
- The ability to lead by example and motivate the project team.
- Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.
- Be able to work on own initiative.
- Computer literate.
- Must have commercial awareness and understand the effect of site-based activities on the project's financial performance.
- Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively, particularly to external parties such as the client, their customers and local authorities.
- Must have the skills and confidence to supervise and coordinate site requirements and tasks.
- Must provide an understanding/ knowledge of the client's Transmission procedures, Pre-con.
- Must have a strong understanding of engineering drawings and the management of drawing systems.
