About the Role

As an Environmental Health Officer specialising in food safety, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding public health and maintaining confidence in local food businesses. Working across a diverse range of premises, you’ll provide practical advice, undertake inspections, investigate complaints, and apply legislation fairly and proportionately. You’ll build positive relationships with businesses, helping them understand their responsibilities and achieve high standards of compliance, while taking enforcement action where necessary to protect the public.

What We’re Looking For

  • Holds a recognised Environmental Health qualification or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Can interpret complex technical and legal information and communicate it clearly to a wide range of audiences
  • Has the ability to make objective assessments and regulate in a proportionate way
  • Has the ability to work to deadlines and manage conflicting demands on your time
  • Has the ability to recognise customer needs and adopt strategies to meet those needs
  • Has the ability to manage self and resources to produce high quality services
