Hyndburn Leisure is a registered charity employing over 180 fully qualified staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sports Apprentice to join their team at various centres in Hyndburn.
Wage: £14,133.60 in the first year, with potential increases depending on age and performance.
Hours: 3-week rota including weekends; Start time: 6.30am, Finish time: 10.30pm; 30-minute breaks; Exact working days and hours to be confirmed. Total: 36 hours per week.
Duration: 1 year 6 months
Work: The apprenticeship primarily involves on-the-job training, gaining hands-on experience in various roles within the leisure centre.
Responsibilities:
- Swim teaching
- Supervision of bathers
- Gym-based duties
- Cleaning and maintenance operations
As part of the role involves lifeguarding, a minimum swimming ability is required, including a swimming test involving multiple lengths, treading water, and surface diving. Good communication skills, basic literacy, and numeracy are essential, along with teamwork and support skills.

Training: The apprenticeship includes time away from work for specialized training, focusing on developing professional skills and knowledge.
