Year 10 & 11 Applications. Course runs for 5/6 weeks (5:30 - 7pm) on Mondays. Start Dates: 3rd November 2025 and 16th March 2026.
Do you love to perform? Be on stage? Feel a part of something bigger? In this programme you will take part in acting, singing and dance technique classes to develop your skills in preparation for creating work to be performed at our Annual Performing Arts Showcase. You will develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours in preparation for study on a Performing Arts Course at Burnley College. You will work as a company to create and develop the material with our outstanding lecturers in Performing Arts.
On the final week of programme 2, you will take part in technical and dress rehearsals for your performance in our outstanding industry standard Performance Theatre. You will then have the exciting opportunity to perform as the curtain raiser for our Performing Arts Showcase and have the opportunity to watch the rest of the show where our Level 2 to Degree learners will perform.
There are no formal entry requirements for this taster programme. This programme is open to students in year 10 & 11.
Assessment
There will be no formal assessment on this programme, however, you will receive ongoing feedback on your development of skills in acting, singing and dancing by our outstanding lecturers during the course. You will also have the opportunity to receive feedback on your final performance. This will prepare you for assessment on Level 1 - 3 Performing Arts Courses at Burnley College. By watching the performances of our current students you will be able to observe the assessment requirements of our level 1 - degree students for their practical work.
This course will develop skills in acting, singing, dancing and performance necessary for progression on to a Level 1, 2 or 3 course in Performing Arts at Burnley College. You will also meet other learners who will be attending college on the same course as you in the future making the transition to college exciting.
By participating on this course you will have the opportunity to be invited to several other performances by the Performing Arts courses Level 2 - Degree, such as the Dance Showcase and Annual Musical Theatre Production at the end of the year.
