Towneley Hall Museum & Art Gallery is a Grade 1 listed historic hall set in 445 acres of parkland. It re-opened in 2025 following major restoration work and is a vibrant visitor attraction, wedding and events venue with a changing programme of exhibitions throughout the year.

We are seeking new customer-facing casual staff to support with our operations and ensure a warm engaging welcome to all our visitors. As a Towneley Hall Visitor Services Assistant, you will assist with opening up and securing rooms, deliver shop and reception functions, support the set up and delivery of events, and lead captivating and engaging tours. You will ensure the Hall is a safe environment and always presented at its best.

You will work closely with our team of volunteers and will be key to supporting our accessibility initiatives, ensuring all visitors have a positive experience, including families, young people and those with additional needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support opening up and securing rooms, deliver shop and reception functions, and assist with event setup and delivery.
  • Lead captivating and engaging tours and ensure the Hall is safe and well presented.
  • Work with volunteers and support accessibility initiatives to provide a positive visitor experience.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in a customer service or front of house role is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to handle cash and transactions with accuracy.
  • Ability to undertake physical tasks.

Hours and Term:

This is a casual position and hours offered will be based on the Hall’s needs. The role requires flexibility as hours will include evenings, weekends, weekdays and public holidays. You will be part of a pool and opportunities for hours will be shared. Hours available will fluctuate but will potentially average 5-10 hours per week.
