We’re recruiting two Communications and Marketing Lead Volunteers to support a small national charity during a critical phase. The role focuses on leading volunteers, developing a communications strategy, and ensuring consistent engagement with our community and supporters. Position is remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of communications and marketing volunteers.
  • Lead and co-ordinate internal projects, activities and campaigns that promote awareness of the organisation.
  • Run the monthly Communications & Marketing Team meetings.
  • Build, lead, and inspire the team, ensuring goals are agreed and communicated.
  • Coordinate and plan with other lead volunteers (Content, Social Media, Email Marketing).
  • Act as the point of contact for the Communications & Marketing Team, including lead volunteers.
  • Contribute to the Annual Report or other reporting documents.
  • Support development and implementation of the Communications Strategy.
  • Protect the charity brand identity, ensuring consistent delivery internally and externally.
  • Promote the charity across all channels and communication platforms.
  • Ensure effective, regular communication to internal and external audiences.
  • Review progress and effectiveness of the Communications Strategy annually.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Enthusiasm for excellence, innovation, continuous improvement and change.
  • Positive, hands‑on team leader capable of getting the best out of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker who also enjoys operational support of team and stakeholders.
  • High level of attention to detail, prioritisation, planning and project management.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and non‑verbal) for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in building and leading a communications team.
  • Experience or familiarity with charities, volunteer organisations is desirable.
  • Creative message management and medium selection.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Motivational skills to inspire volunteers.
  • Experience in marketing, communications, or related fields.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and inspire volunteers.
  • Experience using Canva or similar design packages.
  • Strong network of PR and media contacts is highly advantageous.
