Burnhouse Engineering & Fabrication is looking for an experienced Engineering Estimator / Project Manager to strengthen our growing engineering team. This is a key role within the business responsible for pricing, planning and coordinating fabrication and engineering projects across a range of sectors including industrial, food & drink, life sciences, construction and specialist engineering work. You will work closely with the directors, engineering team and workshop to ensure projects are accurately costed, commercially managed and successfully delivered. This role suits someone who enjoys combining technical engineering knowledge with commercial project delivery.

The Role
You will manage projects from initial enquiry and estimation through to planning and delivery, acting as the key link between the client, engineering team and workshop. Key responsibilities include:
- Estimating & Tendering
- Review technical drawings, specifications and client enquiries
- Assess labour, materials, fabrication and installation costs
- Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Prepare and submit project quotations and tenders
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities within each project
- Plan project timescales and resource requirements
- Coordinate with production, procurement and engineering teams
- Monitor project progress, costs and timelines
- Liaise with clients throughout project delivery
- Resolve technical and commercial issues as they arise
- Maintain strong relationships with customers
- Attend client meetings and respond to technical queries
- Ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably
Experience & Skills
We are looking for someone with strong engineering and commercial experience within fabrication, engineering or construction. Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in engineering estimating or project management
- Background in fabrication, structural steel or pipework projects
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Good commercial awareness and cost control skills
- Excellent communication with clients and internal teams
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Desirable but not essential:
- HND / Degree in Engineering or similar
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with MS Project or project planning tools
A full UK driving licence is required.
