This is a key position within the business, combining technical estimating expertise with hands-on project management. You'll take ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to delivery — ensuring they are accurately costed, commercially viable, and delivered to a high standard.
Working closely with directors, engineers, and the workshop team, you'll play a central role in driving project success across a diverse range of sectors including industrial, food & drink, life sciences, construction, and specialist engineering.

- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and client enquiries
- Prepare accurate cost estimates covering labour, materials, and installation
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Produce and submit competitive tenders
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Project Planning & Delivery
- Plan project timelines, resources, and deliverables
- Coordinate with workshop, procurement, and engineering teams
- Monitor progress, costs, and performance against plan
- Resolve technical and commercial challenges proactively
- Client & Commercial Management
- Act as a key point of contact for clients throughout project lifecycle
- Attend meetings and respond to technical queries
- Build strong relationships and ensure repeat business
- Deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification
You'll bring a strong mix of engineering knowledge and commercial awareness, with the ability to confidently manage projects from start to finish.
Essential Experience:- Experience in engineering estimating and/or project management
- Background in fabrication, structural steel, or pipework
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
- Strong commercial awareness and cost control skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Highly organised with strong problem-solving ability
- HND / Degree in Engineering or similar
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with MS Project or similar planning tools
- £45,000 – £55,000 salary (DOE)
- Monday–Friday working (no weekend shifts)
