We are looking to recruit a completion Paralegal to join our rapidly expanding Banking team based at our Newcastle office on a full time basis. The team provides advice for many high street banks and other lenders, lending against the full range of commercial property portfolios and developments.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will ideally have worked within either a commercial law firm or a securities team within a bank and should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of commercial property and funding matters. We are looking for someone who has an established career as a paralegal in this sector, or wishes to develop such a paralegal career. This role is not suited to a recent law graduate looking for general experience as a stepping-stone to qualification as a solicitor. The role is primarily office-based.
Daily tasks will include:
- assisting the team with transactions (including title due diligence and reports on title);
- liaising with a wide range of professionals, including the securities centres of our banking clients, valuers and borrowers' solicitors;
- dealing with completion of transactions (including arranging for funds to be sent and received);
- registration of charges at Companies House;
- Land Registry – drafting of applications/forms, submitting applications and dealing with requisitions;
- Post completion – checking Land Registry titles once completed and sending documents to clients and banks.
The successful candidate will have a proactive, 'can-do' attitude to enable them to work closely with a team of legal fee‐earners, paralegals and legal assistants on all aspects of this work, and will have a fee earning target themselves. The ability to work as part of a team is therefore essential together with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
