Wash & Wag is a friendly, professional dog grooming salon based in Thaxted, near Great Dunmow. We are looking for an experienced and qualified City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Dog Groomer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be confident grooming a wide range of breeds, delivering high standards of care, and providing excellent customer service to both dogs and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out full grooms including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, scissoring, de-matting, and hand stripping (where appropriate)
- Groom dogs to breed standards and/or client requirements
- Assess coat and skin condition and advise owners where necessary
- Ensure the safety, comfort, and welfare of dogs at all times
- Confidently handle dogs of various sizes, temperaments, and breeds
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic grooming environment
- Clean and maintain grooming equipment and workstations
- Provide friendly, professional customer service and communicate clearly with clients
- Manage time effectively to meet appointment schedules
- Comply with all health & safety and animal welfare standards
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential:
- City & Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming qualification
- City & Guilds Level 3 Dog Grooming qualification
- Proven experience grooming independently in a salon environment
- Desirable:
- First Aid for Dogs (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with nervous or reactive dogs
- Knowledge of breed standards
