A large and complex estate is seeking a skilled General Maintenance Operative to join a busy in‑house reactive maintenance team supporting a diverse portfolio of academic, residential and commercial buildings. This is a hands‑on role requiring a broad trade background, strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently while responding to reactive maintenance requests and planned works across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out reactive and planned building maintenance across occupied buildings
  • General building works including basic plumbing, carpentry, minor roofing, drainage and fabric repairs
  • Fault finding and repairs to building fabric and services
  • Supporting emergency and out‑of‑hours call‑outs as part of a rota
  • Completing PPM tasks and maintaining accurate records via a CAFM system
  • Working safely in line with health & safety, asbestos and permit‑to‑work procedures
  • Liaising professionally with building users and stakeholders

About You

  • Time‑served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade
  • Proven experience in general building maintenance or multi‑trade roles
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Comfortable working independently and across multiple sites
  • Customer‑focused with good communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
