An established London-based organisation with a complex, multi-site estate is seeking an experienced Lead Fire Safety Adviser to drive fire safety strategy and ensure compliance across its diverse portfolio of academic, residential, research, and shared-use buildings.
The Role
You will lead the development and implementation of fire safety policies, risk management frameworks, fire risk assessments, emergency procedures, and staff training. Acting as the organisation's fire safety subject matter expert, you will advise on new build and refurbishment projects, oversee fire safety systems, and support incident investigations.
The role also requires regular collaboration with internal stakeholders, enforcement authorities, project teams, and external contractors, ensuring that all sites operate to the highest fire safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation's fire safety strategy, policies, and risk assessment programme
- Provide expert advice on legislation, building regulations, fire engineering principles, and emergency planning
- Support major projects, reviewing fire strategies, compartmentation plans, and fire safety system designs
- Investigate fire-related incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Manage fire safety training, evacuation drills, and fire warden networks
- Liaise with external regulators, fire authorities, and building control
About You
- Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor qualification (minimum) plus relevant fire safety diploma
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, British Standards, and fire engineering principles
- Significant experience managing fire safety in a large, complex, multi-site environment
- Skilled at interpreting fire strategy documents, evacuation designs, and technical drawings
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Professional membership (e.g., IFE) highly desirable
