A large and complex estate is seeking a skilled General Maintenance Operative to join a busy in-house reactive maintenance team supporting a diverse portfolio of academic, residential and commercial buildings. This is a hands-on role requiring a broad trade background, strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently while responding to reactive maintenance requests and planned works across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out reactive and planned building maintenance across occupied buildings
- General building works including basic plumbing, carpentry, minor roofing, drainage and fabric repairs
- Fault finding and repairs to building fabric and services
- Supporting emergency and out-of-hours call-outs as part of a rota
- Completing PPM tasks and maintaining accurate records via a CAFM system
- Working safely in line with health & safety, asbestos and permit-to-work procedures
- Liaising professionally with building users and stakeholders
About You
- Time-served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade
- Proven experience in general building maintenance or multi-trade roles
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Comfortable working independently and across multiple sites
- Customer-focused with good communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
