We are recruiting a Senior Change Manager to join a Strategic Programmes and Change function within a leading London-based Higher Education institution. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering large-scale organisational and digital transformation across a complex environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding change across major strategic programmes, with a strong preference for experience leading ERP-enabled transformation within a university setting. This role sits within a central change team operating in a matrix model and partners closely with senior academic and professional services leaders across the institution.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will lead the people and cultural aspects of strategic change programmes, ensuring sustainable adoption and measurable benefits realisation.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and execution of end-to-end change management strategies across major programmes and projects
- Partnering with Programme Directors, Sponsors, senior academics and Professional Services leaders to embed change effectively
- Developing and delivering key change artefacts including:
- Change impact assessments
- Stakeholder engagement strategies
- Communications and engagement plans
- Organisational readiness assessments
- Resistance management plans
- Benefits realisation and success metrics
- Integrating change management activity into programme and project delivery frameworks
- Leading workshops and change interventions to support adoption and behavioural shift
- Defining and tracking change KPIs and reporting on adoption, risks and mitigation actions
- Coaching sponsors and senior leaders in their role as change champions
- Line managing and developing Change Managers and Change Officers within a hybrid, matrixed environment
- Supporting the ongoing development of change methodology, tools and organisational change maturity
What we’re looking for:
This role requires a confident, senior change leader who can operate strategically while remaining hands-on in delivery.
Essential experience:
- Significant experience delivering large-scale organisational change impacting people, process, systems and structure
- Strong working knowledge of change methodologies and tools (Prosci or equivalent essential)
- Demonstrable experience influencing at Sponsor and Executive level
- Experience working in complex, matrixed organisations
- Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity and drive adoption across diverse stakeholder groups
- Experience leading ERP or enterprise system change (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
Highly desirable:
- Experience delivering change within a University or comparable complex, regulated organisation
- Experience within large-scale digital transformation programmes
- Knowledge of programme and project management methodologies (Prince2, MSP, Agile)
