We need a dynamic, positive and strategic Communities Manager to lead and grow vibrant digital communities of management leaders in the legal sector. This isn’t a social media manager or digital marketing role in disguise. Unlike product-focused community managers, this is a media role - all about cultivating meaningful, industry-relevant conversations, encouraging user-generated content and fostering connections among B2B professionals.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive thinker with a knack for sparking discussions, seeing editorial and commercial opportunities for the wider business in community interactions, and ensuring the communities are an essential hub for their members.
Working on the Mighty Network platform for our online communities but also getting involved in LinkedIn for social and promo, you will also have the opportunity to arrange and run in-person community events, such as in-person roundtables, as well as virtual roundtables and focus groups.
Pay and reward
Pay: £35,000-£45,000pa DOE plus a generous financial year-end bonus (dependent on business performance). Full time, hybrid working (generally 2-3 days in office / 2-3 days WFH p/w). We would consider a four-day week PT applicant, for pro rata salary.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement and Growth: Generate interest in and signups to our online communities through email and social campaigns (working with our marketing team). Provoke and facilitate high-quality discussions that address key challenges, trends, and opportunities within the legal industry. Encourage and empower members to contribute user-generated content, ideally focusing on challenges they face in their roles and answers to those challenges, but also case studies, articles of interest etc., while maintaining a professional and collaborative tone. Identify and engage industry thought leaders and influencers to participate and drive interest in discussions and potentially lead topics or areas of discussion.
- Content and Discussion Management: Develop and implement strategies to keep members engaged, including creating polls, running Q&A sessions, setting up virtual meetings for topic discussions. Stay close to legal industry trends to curate and share content that sparks interest and drives conversations. Monitor and moderate discussions to ensure they remain relevant, respectful, and aligned with community guidelines.
- Community Development: Onboard new members by welcoming them and introducing them to the communities’ purpose and resources. Regularly survey and conduct 121 conversations with community members to understand their needs and refine the community's value proposition. Build relationships with members to identify potential contributors, advocates and mavens for the communities.
- Metrics and Reporting: Track community engagement metrics, including active users, content contributions, and discussion participation. Provide regular reports to stakeholders, highlighting key insights, engagement trends and opportunities for improvement. Using analytics and your nose, identify gaps and areas for growth within the communities.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with editorial, marketing and sales teams to align community initiatives with business goals. Support content amplification by sharing relevant community discussions or insights with internal teams for broader distribution and internal L&D. Work with our Audience Engagement Lead to deliver in-person get-togethers such as roundtables.
Experience:
- A proven track record of managing professional or trade-focused online communities, either open (e.g. LinkedIn) or closed (such as Circle or Mighty).
- A strong understanding of the challenges and trends faced by management leaders; ideally familiarity with or a strong understanding of the legal industry or the professional services sector.
- Experience with generating and curating engaging, industry-relevant content and discussions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provoke thoughtful dialogue and build rapport with senior decision makers.
- Proficiency with community management platforms, analytics tools and social media; LinkedIn management experience is a must.
- Ability to interpret data and use insights to refine community strategies. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
