We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our function-based kitchen team. This role is focused solely on maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen during and after events. The position is physically demanding and requires someone who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Please note: there will be occasions where you will be working alone, particularly towards the end of service, and shifts may finish between 11:00pm-12:00am.
Key Responsibilities
- Washing and sanitising plates, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Operating and maintaining the pot wash and dishwashing area
- Scrubbing and cleaning kitchen floors to maintain hygiene standards
- Emptying bins and managing waste disposal in line with health and safety regulations
- Keeping all back-of-house areas clean and organised at all times
- Responding promptly to requests from chefs during service
- Ensuring cleaning chemicals and equipment are used safely and stored correctly
- Closing down the kitchen area thoroughly at the end of service
Requirements
- Ability to work in a busy, high-pressure kitchen environment
- Comfortable working independently when required
- Physically fit and capable of standing for long periods
- Reliable and punctual
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings and late nights (finishing 11:00pm-12:00am)
- Previous kitchen experience preferred but not essential
