At the heart of the Estate is Burghley House, set within 1,500 acres of historic parkland.

Business interests include Burghley House, Gardens and Adventure Play visitor attractions, a busy programme of public and private events including the world renowned 5\* Defender Burghley Horse Trials, Burghley Park Golf Club and a significant property portfolio.

Join Our Team

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and professional Porter to join our team at Burghley House.

This is a unique opportunity to live and work within a beautiful estate setting, playing an important role in the day-to-day operation, security and presentation of the House and Park.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

As a key member of the Porters team, you will help ensure the smooth running of the estate, support visitors and guests, and contribute to maintaining the highest standards across the property.

On-site accommodation is provided as part of the role.

The Role

As Porter, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including security, visitor support, event assistance and general estate operations.

You will help ensure the House and Park are welcoming, safe and presented to the highest standards at all times.

Key responsibilities include

  • Opening the House and Park each morning and securing them at the end of the day.
  • Undertaking security duties during opening hours and at events.
  • Monitoring and responding to fire and intruder alarm activations.
  • Participating as a member of the fire salvage team.
  • Assisting visitors with enquiries and providing support to those with limited mobility.
  • Supporting the setup and delivery of events and special functions.
  • Maintaining high presentation standards throughout visitor areas.
  • Delivering internal post to the Estate Office.
  • Carrying out minor maintenance and practical tasks as required.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the estate.
  • Providing flexibility to support evening events, with overtime paid where applicable.
