As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Conveyancing Assistant to join our Conveyancing Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced conveyancing professional to join a modern and growing firm, with genuine progression opportunities for the right candidate.
The Role
You will be supporting a conveyancer (or conveyancing solicitor) by handling the administrative, procedural, and transaction-management tasks that keep a property file moving smoothly from instruction through to completion. In practice, you will act as the "engine room" of the transaction, making sure nothing stalls while the conveyancer focuses on legal judgment, risk, and client advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening new conveyancing files and completing client onboarding (ID checks, AML, source of funds where required)
- Sending engagement letters, forms, and initial instructions to clients
- Ordering and chasing property searches
- Requesting and following up on management packs from freeholders/managing agents
- Liaising with mortgage lenders, brokers, and obtaining mortgage offers or redemption statements
- Maintaining regular contact with clients, estate agents, and other solicitors for updates and progress chasing
- Updating the case management system with accurate notes, tasks, and deadlines
- Preparing contract packs and supporting documentation for review by the conveyancer
- Drafting standard documents under supervision
- Assisting with exchange and completion preparations (including funds requests and file checks)
- Submitting SDLT returns and supporting Land Registry applications post-completion
- Handling routine post-completion tasks (registration updates, title documents, requisitions)
- Ensuring compliance requirements are met and escalating legal issues or risks to the conveyancer promptly

- Previous experience in conveyancing (essential)

- The ability to follow structured processes consistently and accurately
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
