We are looking for an experienced Safety, Health & Environment Manager to play a key role in owning the Health, Safety and Environment process as well as ensuring that our high Health, Safety and Environment standards and culture are maintained and continuously improved.

The accountabilities of the role include:

  • Ensuring systems are established which seek to promote and improve Safety, Health and Environment within all areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health, safety and environmental legislation and ensure the business has systems and practice in place to meet legal compliance.
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents are investigated in a timely manner and preventative measures implemented.
  • Develop policies and training guides for best practice incident investigation.
  • Assist in capital expenditure project proposals in respect of Safety, Health and Environmental improvements.
  • Report on SHE KPI’s and report to Site Management Teams and the General Manager at agreed frequencies, identifying trends, areas for improvement and communicating positive outcomes.
  • Develop and implement waste management within areas of responsibility and continually review to achieve cost reduction and improvements in respects of environmental impacts such as recycling, water and energy use.
  • Ensure completion of specific site Risk Assessments for COSHH, Fire, DSEAR and Workplace Transport and First Aid, as well as any other required specific Risk Assessments.
  • Engage and support other sites in the business to promote group‑wide best practice development and sharing.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience of SHE Management and hands‑on management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of SHE management systems.
  • Practical experience of Environmental Management.
  • Engaging, hands‑on, comfortable with persuading and connecting with colleagues at all levels from shopfloor to Exec’s.
  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Strong numeracy and exemplary spelling and grammar.
  • A confident communicator capable of pulling together a compelling business case or proposal, backed up with considered and solid data and justification.
  • An individual who will align with our company values.
