Reference: 1435This is a hands-on legal technology role for someone who enjoys designing, prototyping and delivering practical digital solutions that improve how legal work is delivered.We are looking for a Legal Innovation Business Partner to join our Innovation Team, with a clear focus on legal technology, automation, AI-enabled solutions and scalable tools that support our lawyers, clients and business services teams.The Role You will join our Innovation Team within the Technology function at Burges Salmon, working at the intersection of law, technology and service delivery. This is an opportunity to help shape how legal technology is identified, built, tested and embedded across the firm.Working closely with lawyers, IT specialists, business services teams and external vendors, you'll play a key role in turning legal and operational challenges into practical technology solutions. This will include identifying opportunities, mapping workflows, shaping requirements, building or configuring prototypes, supporting pilots and helping move successful solutions into wider adoption.Reporting to the Senior Legal Innovation Business Partner, this role combines legal technology expertise, solution design and hands-on delivery, with strong stakeholder engagement and change management experience.What you'll be doingIdentify opportunities to improve legal and business processes through technology, automation and data-driven solutionsMap legal workflows, gather requirements and translate user needs into practical technical designsPrototype, configure and support legal technology solutions, including AI-enabled tools, workflow automation, document automation and client-facing platformsLead pilots and proof-of-concepts, supporting testing, evaluation, stakeholder buy-in and firmwide rolloutAct as a technical subject matter expert on projects, helping lawyers and business teams understand what is possible and what is practicalWork closely with IT, Legal Project Management, Technology Solutions and Online Services teams to embed new tools into day-to-day ways of workingPartner with external vendors to assess functionality, commercial viability, integration, strategic fit and long-term valueDevelop guidance and adoption materials in collaboration with L&D and Change teamsMonitor usage, gather feedback and help evidence the value of legal technology through case studies, data and lessons learnedStay up to date with advances in legal technology, AI and the wider innovation landscape, sharing insight across the firmWhat We're Looking ForA degree (or equivalent experience) in IT, Computer Science, Technology, Business, law, or a related disciplineDemonstrable experience working in legal technology, legal innovation, legal operations, technology consultancy, project delivery or process automationStrong understanding of legal technology and digital platforms, which may include HighQ, legal AI platforms, document automation tools, Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, workflow tools or similar technologiesPractical experience of designing, configuring, prototyping, testing or supporting technology solutionsA solid grasp of the AI landscape and its practical application within legal and professional servicesConfidence mapping processes, gathering requirements and translating business needs into clear technical optionsStrong communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiencesA curious, problem-solving mindset and the confidence to test ideas, learn quickly and improve solutions iterativelyComfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change in a complex professional environmentAn understanding of how law firms operate and deliver value to clientsWhy Burges Salmon?At Burges Salmon, we empower our people to use technology and innovation to make a genuine difference for our clients and for each other.
