Our Tier 1 Private Client team is looking for an Associate Tax Accountant to join our tax compliance team. You\'ll work with national and international clients on a varied portfolio, alongside colleagues advising on tax and estate planning, offshore tax and corporate tax.
Rachel Cadby, a Chartered Accountant in our trust management and tax compliance teams, shares her experience:
"Joining a law firm from a firm of accountants may initially seem a scary prospect. However, I found that much of the work I do at Burges Salmon was very similar to work I did before, and you get the extra bonus of a team of lawyers available to help with any difficult legal questions!"
The Role
You\'ll support a varied range of tax compliance work, including:
- Preparing inheritance tax (IHT) returns, predominantly for excluded property trusts, and supporting lawyers with structure analysis.
- Preparing income and stockpiled gains pools for non-UK trustees, supporting tax advice for UK-resident beneficiaries.
- Preparing UK personal tax returns for UK-resident individuals who are not long-term residents, and for non-UK residents.
You\'ll work across the department and may support projects such as de-enveloping UK properties, including non-resident capital gains tax, corporation tax, Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED) and Trust Registration Service (TRS) compliance.
