We are expanding our bench to meet increasing demand for high-calibre commercial legal expertise across the energy sector. BFlex offers you the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects while maintaining control over your schedule and preferred working arrangements.
As a BFlex lawyer, you will advise on a broad range of commercial and project matters within energy, supporting in-house teams and external clients on strategic legal and regulatory issues. Work may include advising on complex commercial contracts, power purchase agreements, grid connection and network arrangements, technology and outsourcing, construction/EPC and O&M contracts, joint ventures, and regulatory matters (including Ofgem-related issues). You will have the opportunity to build relationships with key players in the sector and contribute to high-impact projects shaping the UK's low-carbon future.
Responsibilities
- Delivering Expertise: Provide high-quality commercial advice across the energy lifecycle, including supply and offtake, PPAs and route-to-market, grid and connection, construction/EPC and O&M, technology/outsourcing, and regulatory-linked commercial matters.
- Flexibility: Manage your own schedule while meeting client expectations and project requirements.
- Growing our Network: Contribute to the BFlex community and share insights with fellow practitioners.
- Developing our Business: Build relationships, understand client needs, and collaborate to support mutual growth.
What you'll need
- Significant experience advising on commercial matters within the energy sector (e.g., renewables, networks and connections, storage, hydrogen/CCUS, downstream supply, or conventional generation/transition).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and seamlessly integrate into in-house legal teams.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Adaptability and enthusiasm for varied, fast-paced assignments.
- Must be an SRA-regulated solicitor or registered with the Law Society of Scotland.
