Burges Salmon are looking for an Associate to join our growing Dispute Resolution practice in Edinburgh. It’s an exciting time to join a practice at an early stage, which will provide excellent growth opportunities while growing alongside industry leaders.

The Team: Burges Salmon's over 100 strong Dispute Resolution team have a strong reputation for litigation and alternative dispute resolution including dispute avoidance management in sectors such as Transport, Financial Services, Energy & Utilities, Banking & Finance, and Real Estate. Focusing on outcome and not just process, our lawyers take responsibility for helping clients arrive at the right solution to their issue, minimising impact and maximising success. We work across a range of practice areas, and the cases you will handle will range from team-working on market leading, complex litigation, to commercial cases where you will be given prime responsibility under the supervision of our senior team of Scottish based Dispute Resolution lawyers. In Edinburgh, you’ll be joining a team comprised of an Associate and Partner, Magnus Miller. Our clients operate in both the private and public sectors and include Abellio Scotrail Ltd, FirstGroup, The Crown Estate, John Lewis plc, National Crime Agency, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Waitrose & Partners, and Lloyds Banking Group.
Responsibilities: What you’ll do will include involvement in disputes across multiple sectors, with exposure to high-value cases and opportunities to take on prime responsibility under senior supervision. Specific duties are aligned with Dispute Resolution activities and may include working on market-leading, complex litigation and commercial disputes.
Qualifications: Relevant experience working on Property Litigation and Commercial Disputes. We are open-minded as to how that experience is made up; however the ideal candidate will have property litigation experience. Work well with others, with excellent interpersonal skills. Able to manage a complex and varied workload effectively. Be self-motivated and willing to learn. Must be a Law Society of Scotland registered lawyer, already qualified.
