We are seeking to recruit an Associate to join our "First‑rate" (Legal 500) Construction & Engineering practice, focusing on construction related disputes, including litigation, adjudication, and arbitration.

The Team: Part of one of the UK’s largest construction practices, our Contentious Construction team works at the forefront of an array of key sectors, including energy and utilities, transport, real estate and infrastructure, nationally and internationally. Having made several new recruits, our contentious offering is going from strength to strength and is seeking a mid‑level hire to support our continuing growth.

The team regularly supports clients in navigating complex legal landscapes, utilising experience across a broad range of dispute resolution methods including:

  • Adjudication
  • International and domestic arbitration
  • Pre‑Action Protocol for construction and engineering disputes
  • Litigation in the Technology and Construction Court
  • Strategic troubleshooting advice on legal and contractual issues arising throughout the project life‑cycle
  • Industry specific procedures such as Expert Determination and Conciliation
  • Mediation

What You'll Need:

  • Relevant experience working on complex and high value construction disputes, with understanding of an array of resolution techniques
  • Be a strong team player, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage a complex and varied workload effectively
  • Be self‑motivated and willing to learn
  • Experience of leading others to develop their skills and knowledge
  • Experience of effective matter management and business development activities
  • Must be a SRA or Law Society of Scotland registered lawyer
