We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer – Azure Specialist to join Burendo and help our clients get the most out of their Azure environments. You'll bring strong hands-on Azure expertise to a variety of engaging client projects, working within a team that genuinely values craft, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

These are the things we value most at Burendo, we can teach skills, but our behaviours forge the culture we strive for:

  • A passion for engineering and a desire to keep learning
  • A focus on writing clear, concise infrastructure and configuration code that is easy to maintain
  • An ability to be pragmatic when required and avoid unnecessary over-engineering
  • An understanding that quality is everyone's responsibility, including in infrastructure and automation
  • Comfortable working with others in pairing or mobbing scenarios

  • A true DevOps mentality – you don't want to chuck code over the fence, and you're keen to be involved right through to delivering solutions to the customer

The must haves:

  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure infrastructure — including virtual machines, networking, storage, and identity services
  • Experience introducing and embedding DevOps practices within teams who are earlier in their journey, helping to bring others along and grow capability alongside delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure services such as App Services, Azure SQL, AKS, and Azure Storage
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, governance, and compliance — including Azure AD, IAM, and security policies
  • Experience monitoring and optimising cloud environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Cost Management
  • Experience supporting application migrations or modernisation initiatives, including on-premises to Azure
  • A good understanding of and experience working with agile methodologies
  • Experience working in and supporting live production environments
  • Understanding of and working experience with source control, particularly Git
  • Experience with database technologies of some flavour

And it would be great if you have any of these:

  • Experience implementing backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions using Azure-native services
  • Experience with no-SQL technologies such as MongoDB
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud environments, including AWS

Benefits

  • 25 days Annual Leave (plus bank holidays)
  • An additional day of paid leave for celebrations
  • 1 additional day of holiday after 2 years' service (26 days total) and another 2 days after 5 years (28 days total)
  • Monthly Wellness Allowance
  • Annual Learning and Development Allowance
  • Paid time off for Life Events
  • Matched Employer Contributed Pension (5%)
  • Life assurance based on 4 x your salary
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced Family Leave
  • Enhanced company sick pay
  • A range of optional Salary Sacrifice benefits (inc EV Scheme, Home and Tech, Cycle to Work and Pension)
  • Exciting calendar of Burendo social events and activities
