About the role: To lead a field-based team of Engineer Surveyors. To identify and implement improvements in operating efficiency, people capability and customer focus. Ultimately responsible for achievement of the Business Units KPIs goals and objectives, whilst consistently ensuring expenditure is maintained in line with budget. Commercially build the reputation of Bureau Veritas within the Business Unit (BU).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Role model against leadership behaviours, core values and code of ethics.
- Embed a culture of One BV within the team.
- Champion and drive process improvements and compliance.
- Ensure that work carried out complies with all relevant statutes in a practical and cost effective way.
- Drive an H&S culture within the BU.
- Develop and provide innovative solutions to in-service inspection processes.
- Analyse monthly Management Information, and use information to support operational BU decisions and planning inputs to realise continuous improvement.
- Ownership and definition of the BU budget and plan, working in an overall divisional framework set by the divisional MD and Regional Manager.
- Working closely with the Centralised Planning team, ensure work is being effectively scheduled and carried out.
- To support the Business Development Managers to grow existing accounts and assist in the sale of new business within the BU.
- Forward plan resource to proactively review client requirements, manage any conflicting priorities and to ultimately achieve and maintain zero overdue inspections.
- Develop and build relationships with clients and have clear understanding of the Divisions and BU’s top 10 clients.
- Hold regular operational meetings with the BU’s key clients.
- Anticipate BU resource requirements based on the combination of budget requirement, assumed attrition rates and forecasted sales projections.
- Ensure, with HR and the Recruitment team’s support, the capacity requirements are in place to deliver expected revenue.
- Manage performance issues effectively.
- Promote the detection of talent and ensure opportunities for career enhancement are shared.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Educated to degree or equivalent
- Relevant H&S qualifications – NEBOSH General/ IOSH Managing Safely.
- Relevant industry experience
- Experience of managing a field based team
- People management experience
- Commercial awareness
- Strong communication skills
- Analytical skills and ability to deal with numbers / KPI’s and use them in decision making
- Positive approach to the challenges of change and see change as an opportunity
