Role: Electrical Test and Inspection Engineer
Location: Portsmouth, Southampton and the South Coast
Salary: £41,714 per annum. For candidates who hold COMPEX 1–4, salary starts from £44,321 per annum.
Package: Car allowance of £5,000 p/a or Company Car, Fuel Card, OT available, Up to 12% Pension, Health Care, and other Flexible benefits.
The Role: To operate independently and as a team member in carrying out high quality examination of designated Electrical installations, operating with clear customer focus and driving optimal service delivery.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate in line with Bureau Veritas Core Values and Code of Ethics.
- Fully utilize all operational systems available, ensuring accurate data is inputted and reflected.
- Whilst acting as a fully integrated member of a national and regional team, retain independent and individual ownership and responsibility for all allocated inspection and technical activities.
- Ensure examinations and testing are carried out in set time scales in line with the planned schedule.
- Formulate, produce and distribute inspection reports in a professional manner within daily timescales and service standards.
- Ensure you work in line with Bureau Veritas Health and Safety process and systems.
- Safely carry out electrical safety tests on portable appliances within our customers' premises in accordance with the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Carry out inspections within agreed authorities and to inspection standards and record such activities in the methods set out by the company.
- Provide advice of a technical and legislative nature relevant to agreed authorities to clients, other team members and external bodies as necessary.
- Provide, build and maintain excellent client relationships and ensure that all customer service standards are met.
- Work closely with Regional Planner to ensure the plan is completed on a daily basis; any change must be communicated to the planner.
- Maintain an awareness of developments in standards and legislation affecting Electrical Installations, and support change as required.
- Act on behalf of the company, making full use of technical expertise, when required.
- Identify any possible business opportunities and advise all appropriate business areas.
- Work effectively with Area Managers and Regional Directors to ensure all Regions KPI’s are met.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Relevant Electrical knowledge.
- Previous experience in a similar role / time served apprentice holding their 18th edition.
- Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues, both written and verbal.
- Computer literate.
- Good knowledge of market, industry trends, developments and changes in legislation. Knowledge of H&S requirements.
Qualifications Required:
- 18th Edition regulations.
- City & Guilds Part 1, 2 and 3 OR Level 3 City and Guilds 2365 Diploma electrical installation (HNC desirable).
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/5 courses (or equivalent).
- Hold a current U.K. driving license.
- GCSE’s in Maths and English (or equivalent).
