About The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and support to clients on compliance with the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated secondary legislation. At its core, the role focuses on providing advice to the statutory duty holders on both new and existing buildings categorised as Higher Risk Buildings during the design, construction, and occupation phases of a building. You will be expected to deliver projects to the required quality and contribute to business growth and development activities. You will provide an expert point of reference on legislative and procedural matters relating to the application of the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the associated Secondary Legislation. You will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement process within the business unit, assisting in the development of new assurance services.
Main Duties And Responsibilities:
- Brief project teams on the requirements of the BSA 2022 and their required duties and competences.
- Support our clients throughout the project at design team meetings.
- Review and advise on competence submissions.
- Identify potential BSA 2022 compliance risks.
- Support, review, and advise on building control approval (GW2) and completion certification (GW3) and the details of submission requirements.
- Review and audit ‘golden thread’ information.
- Liaise with our Building Control team to ensure timely provision of building regulations design reviews and compliance trackers.
- Liaise with our Independent Construction Assessor team to ensure provision of site audits.
- Attend and participate in design team meetings to provide assurance that BSA 2022 related matters are being addressed.
- Escalate issues to the Director of Assurance Services where necessary.
- Determine client needs and produce client proposals for Assurance Services.
Candidate Experience and Skills:
The ideal candidate will hold accredited RICS/CABE/CIOB/RIBA status, boasting an extensive background post qualification in the built environment with demonstrable experience working with Higher Risk Buildings. Background of working as a Senior Design Manager with experience of project delivery or a Project Manager with extensive experience of managing/controlling design or Architect with extensive experience of project delivery. Understand how to evaluate and apply information management systems to advise the Client on how the golden thread of information is maintained. Understands the purpose, structure and scope of technical guidance and standards governing building design and construction compliance sufficiently to be able to look up relevant information or recommend further specialist advice. Understand in the context of the RIBA Plan of Work, the design process, how to apply principles to ensure design compliance, and to be able to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate during the design phase. Understand how the quality of these processes can impact quality of delivery on site. Understand the impact of change during design and construction on compliance. Understand the general principles of building design and construction. Understand the core criteria for building safety as identified in BSI Flex 8670, these being: Fire safety, structural safety and public safety, Managing building safety, Knowledge Management and communication. Excellent organisational and project management skills. Competent user of standard Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams etc.). Keen attention to detail, coupled with strong organisational skills. High level of commercial acumen. Excellent client facing and presentation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent relationship building skills with ability to develop professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical and report production skills. Ability to effectively manage a varied and busy workload.
