About the Role:

This role supports the Commercial Director within the Buildings & Infrastructure CAPEX division, working across Building Control, Fire Engineering, Structural Engineering and CDM services. Operating across a wide range of UK construction sectors and contract types, the role will contribute to all commercial activities, including contract negotiations, pricing models, governance, profit reviews and dispute management. The position will also develop expertise in BV contract requirements, becoming a key contact for contract management and providing guidance to project teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the weekly reviews of open contract negotiations with the Project Management Team
  • Take the lead on large framework and special interest high value contracts by providing direct support to Commercial Director and Business Development Director
  • Negotiation of terms within bespoke agreements and appointments
  • Assist with the drafting relevant commercial terms and schedules within all contracts
  • Assist with pricing for new projects working with the Technical Leads, Business Development Director and Commercial Director
  • Assist with the review of subcontractor pricing where applicable
  • Draft where necessary project resourcing, programme and invoicing schedules as required by client project teams
  • Support the Project Management team with any commercial queries relating to a project/framework
  • Assist the Finance Department and CAPEX Commercial Director with the review and completion of Project Work in Progress and Deferred Income with an aim to complete the monthly reviews of WIP and take responsibility for aspects of the monthly WIP reconciliation
  • Assist the Credit Control team with debt reviews and client negotiation through project account reconciliation and taking responsibility for dispute resolutions
  • Develop the tools to be a leader with respect to monthly review of all service line projects, reviewing profitability as well as identifying delivery risks that will impact projects
  • Manage and coordinate project fee uplifts across the CAPEX division with an emphasis on programme and scope changes
  • Working with the project management team to ensure where applicable, fee uplifts are managed and achieved.

What are we looking for?

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Degree/Qualification in any of the following: Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management (Construction)
  • Experience in the design/pre-construction/construction industry working with projects between RIBA Stages 2-6
  • Experience with drafting construction and services construction contracts such as JCT, NEC as well as bespoke forms for contract for service providers as well as industry standards such as ABCA or ACE, etc.
  • Good knowledge with respect to Regulatory requirements for Design and Construction with the UK
