Senior Buyer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to manage the complete purchasing cycle of allocated Material Requisitions, ensuring execution within budget, on schedule, and meeting quality standards.
The Senior Buyer will report functionally to the Section Head or equivalent and operationally to the Project Procurement Manager or equivalent. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams including the Section Head, Project Procurement Manager, Engineering, Project Manager, Legal, Finance, VPM, Transport, and Logistics, while maintaining effective communication and relationships with external suppliers.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role within procurement or supply chain management, a strong understanding of procurement principles and project procurement strategies, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, local UK vendors and to support buyers within the team. High levels of autonomy and decision-making capability on medium criticality/value requisitions are also required.
Responsibilities:
- Recommending Bidder Lists for allocated MRs.
- Set up and manage enquiries and purchase orders using the Group IT Tools.
- Carry out commercial and contractual negotiations up to supplier selection.
- Ensuring a close collaboration with Engineering to finalize technical and commercial clarifications within schedule cycle.
- Compiling and issuing purchase order, ensuring acceptance without comments
- Managing all changes of scope during the purchase order execution, including issue amendments.
- Recovering applicable liquidated damages and back charges notified to the vendors.
- Managing close out of purchase orders and feedback on vendor performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within procurement, purchasing and supply chain management.
- Technical diploma or relevant degree/ diploma.
- Negotiation skills
- Organizational abilities, curiosity, problem solver, target-orientated, rigorous, and respectful to deadlines.
