Burdwood Surgery is delighted to invite applicants for a fixed term Salaried GP to join our friendly, dynamic, and high-quality practice team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed GP, including newly or recently qualified GPs looking for a supportive environment to further develop their skills.

The role

  • 4 to 8 sessions per week.
  • 12-month fixed term (at least initially).
  • Working closely with our clinical, managerial, and administrative teams.
  • Opportunities for continued learning, development, and involvement in practice initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of a General Practitioner (GP) at Burdwood Surgery include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses such as infections, chronic diseases, and minor injuries.
  • Providing health advice and preventive care, including lifestyle guidance, vaccinations, and screening programmes.
  • Managing long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, and COPD.
  • Conducting patient consultations in person, by telephone, or online to assess symptoms and develop treatment plans.
  • Prescribing medications and monitoring their effectiveness and safety.
  • Referring patients to specialists, hospitals, or community services when further investigation or treatment is required.
  • Performing health assessments and routine medical examinations.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring patient information is up to date.
  • Supporting mental health care, including assessment, treatment, and referral where necessary.
  • Safeguarding vulnerable patients, including children and adults at risk of harm.
  • Coordinating patient care with nurses, pharmacists, social care professionals, paramedics and other healthcare providers.
  • Providing palliative and end-of-life care where appropriate.
  • Contributing to practice management, clinical audits, quality improvement, and staff supervision or training.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
  • A recognised primary medical qualification e. g., MBBS or equivalent.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • National Performers List registration (England).
  • Independent prescriber.
  • Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU).
  • Evidence of current validation.
  • Evidence of last appraisal.
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
  • Certificate of Completion of GP Training.
