This role acts as a key technical link between Design, Merchandise, Regulatory, Product Development, and vendors—responsible for creating accurate technical packs, assessing product risk, managing fittings, and delivering clear specifications and comments through all development stages from prototype to production.RESPONSIBILITIES Support end to end process from sketch launch to delivery in terms of quality, fit and constructionSupport Design and product development team to develop the initial technical specification packs to enable suppliers to proceed with proto sampling.Risk assessment of all product/ fabric/trim suitability in relation to construction and functionality.Measuring garments and entering fit comments and technical specifications into the PLM system.Responsible for the fitting product on model/mannequin, and assess the required alterationResponsible for sending accurate and timely technical comments, graded specs for production, liaising with vendors on daily basis at all stages proto to productionIdentifying opportunities for cost engineering to help improve and/or maintain margin wherever possibleManagement development garment/ print/ applique testing with external labs.Advise care label/disclaimers and Resolution of test failuresEnsure consistency of fit and quality across the categoriesLead cross functional meetings and work closely with raw materials development, Regulatory merchandise, design, product development and sourcingResponsible for the block development and ensuring correct blocks are used throughout.Creation and management of garment construction and standards/ standard make manualsSupport Product TechnologistsMonitor returns, establish reasons for returns and implement lessons learnt to mitigate riskPERSONAL PROFILE Educated to degree level with minimum 6 years industry experience with 2 years at senior levelExperience within a luxury brand is ideal but not essential, open to a retail technical backgroundStrong background in Woven & Non-Woven, Warp / Weft / Bias variations, Fibres & Yarns, Fabric Terminology, Manufacture, Finishes, Modification, Blends & Properties, Fabric Inspection, Faults & Defects.Strong knowledge of production methods, SOPs, CAPs, production cycle, ISO Stitch types SPI & Tension suitability Thread weights, count, Tkt and garment constructionStrong Understanding: Trims, embellishments, attachment methods, printing techniques, embroideryExcellent understanding of: Children\’s Fit, Non-lateral body growth, Sizing, Silhouette, Grading, Lay Plans, Tolerances, pattern adaptionsGood understanding of Children\’s Safety requirements and regulations, experienced in risk mitigation product assessmentStrong understanding of Compliance, Testing, labelling, product Functionality, durability, performance & safetyAbility to independently manage multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlinesHighly organised and driven by processesMust have excellent communication skill, self-motivated, attention to detail, being a strong team player is crucialIT skills –Ms office: Teams, Powerpoint, Word, Excel, MS Outlook, PLMDigital patternmaking and 3D modelling, CAD/ CAM knowledge is a plusKnowledge of CHW competitors and benchmarking is essentialBurberry is an Equal Opportunities Employer and as such, treats all applications equally and recruits purely on the basis of skills and experience.
