JOB PURPOSE
Burberry is looking for an experienced Senior Pattern Cutter to bring technically complex soft garments to life across Runway, Pre-Collections and Special Projects at Burberry.
Working at the intersection of creativity and craft, you will translate ambitious design concepts into beautifully resolved patterns while preserving silhouette, movement and proportion.
You will take ownership of styles from initial development through fittings and final technical resolution, applying deep expertise in draping, fluid construction and fabric behaviour.
As a senior specialist within the Atelier, you will also strengthen technical capability through collaboration, guidance and knowledge sharing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and develop technically complex patterns for dresses, gowns, skirts, blouses, tops and other soft-sewn garments from sketches, blocks, draped concepts, reference pieces and creative direction.
- Translate the Design vision into technically resolved garments while protecting the intended silhouette, volume, balance, movement and styling.
- Lead assigned styles through pattern development, toile, fittings, amendments and final resolution, identifying and addressing technical, fit or fabrication risks.
- Apply advanced draping, bias cutting, soft construction and garment-engineering techniques to delicate, fluid and technically challenging fabrics.
- Partner with Design, Product Development, Atelier Management, Seamstresses and Pattern Cutters to deliver exceptional craftsmanship within seasonal and project priorities.
- Share specialist knowledge, support colleagues' technical development and contribute to the evolution of traditional and digital pattern-cutting practices across the Atelier.
- PERSONAL PROFILE
- Deep practical expertise in soft-garment pattern cutting, draping and construction gained within a luxury atelier, couture, high-end fashion house or comparable environment.
- A strong understanding of fit, proportion, balance, body movement and the relationship between fabric, pattern, construction and final garment behaviour.
- A track record of working with delicate or technically challenging materials, including lightweight, fluid, transparent or bias-cut fabrics.
- The ability to interpret complex creative concepts and develop precise technical solutions while maintaining the integrity of the original Design vision.
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage priorities, communicate risks clearly and contribute constructively during fittings.
- Clear communication in English, and an interest in sharing knowledge while continuing to develop traditional and digital craft techniques.
