JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Manager, Technology Business Management provides centralised financial and commercial oversight of Burberry IT, ensuring technology costs, investments, vendor relationships and value outcomes are managed consistently and transparently.
Working closely with Finance and Procurement Business Partners, this role provides IT leadership with a holistic, accurate view of IT spend, investment affordability, vendor performance, commercial risk and opportunity.
The role also supports portfolio prioritisation and investment decision‑making through affordability modelling, financial analysis and commercial insight, helping ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.
The role also plays a key role in simplifying and streamlining financial and procurement interactions for platform, product and delivery teams, ensuring governance and commercial processes are efficient, scalable and minimally disruptive to day‑to‑day delivery activities.
By reducing administrative overhead and improving the experience of engaging with Finance and Procurement processes, the role enables technology teams to remain focused on delivering strategic and operational outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the central financial and commercial view of Burberry's IT landscape, including budgets, vendor spend, contracts, renewal timelines, investment commitments, risk exposure and total cost of ownership
- Provide IT cost transparency and financial insight across products, programmes, platforms and run activities, ensuring leadership has a clear and accurate understanding of technology spend and investment allocation.
- Partner with teams across IT to ensure operational costs are appropriately forecasted, financially governed and classified in accordance with enterprise IT financial management standards.
- Support portfolio investment decision-making through affordability modelling, financial analysis and scenario planning, working closely with the Portfolio Management Office.
- Define and maintain IT financial governance standards, ensuring consistent treatment of budgets, forecasts, accruals, capex/opex classification and vendor costs across the technology organisation.
- Coordinate cross-supplier QBRs and performance reviews, ensuring a consistent view of cost, performance and value across strategic partners; reporting insight and recommendations to IT leadership to support decision-making.
- Coordinate the contract renewal pipeline (6‑12‑month horizon), ensuring contract renewals, renegotiations and amendments are aligned to Burberry's technology roadmap, target architecture and platform strategy, while partnering with Procurement to maintain forward visibility of commercial commitments and financial impacts.
- Coordinate financial and commercial governance activities across IT, Finance and Procurement, ensuring commercial governance processes, sourcing controls and contract approval activities operate effectively across the technology organisation.
- Coordinate and facilitate regular commercial and financial review forums across IT, Finance and Procurement (e. g. monthly business reviews), ensuring visibility of spend, commercial risks, investment pressures, supplier performance and optimisation opportunities.
- Support development and execution of Burberry's technology partner strategy, providing commercial insight, supplier analysis and optimisation recommendations.
- Provide visibility and coordination across IT vendor demand, purchase order governance and contingent workforce commercial processes, ensuring alignment to financial controls and procurement standards.
- Track and report financial benefits and value realisation across technology investments, ensuring measurable outcomes are visible to leadership and governance forums.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, vendor rationalisation and commercial efficiency across the technology estate through analysis and reporting.
- Partner with Finance Business Partners and Procurement Business Partners to support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and supplier governance activities across IT.
- Drive continuous improvement of IT financial and commercial processes, simplifying governance interactions and reducing administrative burden on product, platform and delivery teams.
- PERSONAL PROFILE
- Proven experience in technology business management (TBM), IT financial management, commercial governance, vendor management or supplier strategy within a technology environment.
- Strong financial management capability, including budgeting, forecasting, cost modelling, accrual management and experience working with capex/opex classification in an IT context.
- Experience providing IT cost transparency, investment insight and financial reporting to senior technology leadership.
- Strong commercial and supplier management expertise, including contract lifecycle management, vendor performance governance and commercial optimisation.
- Strong understanding of enterprise technology cost structures and commercial models, including software licensing, Saa S, cloud and consumption-based charging, telecoms/network billing, managed services and contingent workforce arrangements.
- Experience managing and interpreting large-scale, complex technology commercial datasets and billing constructs, including high-volume global contracts, variable consumption models and multi-region supplier agreements.
- Experience working closely with Finance and Procurement Business Partners, with a strong understanding of sourcing governance, financial controls and commercial policy frameworks.
- Strong analytical capability, able to interpret financial, vendor and investment data to provide clear and actionable insight to leadership.
- Effective communicator able to coordinate across IT, Finance and Procurement functions, translating financial and commercial information into business-understandable outcomes.
- Process-oriented with the ability to establish and maintain scalable financial and commercial governance processes across a complex technology organisation.
- Understanding of enterprise technology pricing, licensing and commercial models across software, Saa S, cloud, services and contingent workforce arrangements.
- Experience simplifying operational processes and reducing administrative overhead for technology delivery teams is desirable.
