JOB PURPOSE

Burberry is looking for the next CHW Senior Product Technologist to support the full product lifecycle from sketch to delivery, ensuring each design meets Burberry’s standards of quality, fit, safety and construction. This role acts as a key technical link between Design, Merchandise, Regulatory, Product Development, and vendors—responsible for creating accurate technical packs, assessing product risk, managing fittings, and delivering clear specifications and comments through all development stages from prototype to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support end to end process from sketch launch to delivery in terms of quality, fit and construction.
  • Support Design and product development team to develop the initial technical specification packs to enable suppliers to proceed with proto sampling.
  • Risk assessment of all product/fabric/trim suitability in relation to construction and functionality.
  • Measuring garments and entering fit comments and technical specifications into the PLM system.
  • Responsible for the fitting product on model/mannequin, and assess the required alteration.
  • Responsible for sending accurate and timely technical comments, graded specs for production, liaising with vendors on daily basis at all stages proto to production.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost engineering to help improve and/or maintain margin wherever possible.
  • Management development garment/print/applique testing with external labs.
  • Advise care label/disclaimers and resolution of test failures.
  • Ensure consistency of fit and quality across the categories.
  • Lead cross functional meetings and work closely with raw materials development, Regulatory merchandise, design, product development and sourcing.
  • Responsible for the block development and ensuring correct blocks are used throughout.
  • Creation and management of garment construction and standards/standard make manuals.
  • Support Product Technologists.
  • Monitor returns, establish reasons for returns and implement lessons learnt to mitigate risk.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Educated to degree level with minimum 6 years industry experience with 2 years at senior level. Experience within a luxury brand is ideal but not essential, open to a retail technical background. Strong background in Woven.
