In this role you will support the full product lifecycle from sketch to delivery, ensuring each design meets Burberry’s standards of quality, fit, safety and construction. You will act as a key technical link between Design, Merchandise, Regulatory, Product Development, and vendors. You will also be responsible for creating accurate technical packs, assessing product risk, managing fittings, and delivering clear specifications and comments through all development stages from prototype to production.
Job Purpose
In this role you will support the full product lifecycle from sketch to delivery, ensuring each design meets Burberry’s standards of quality, fit, safety and construction. You will act as a key technical link between Design, Merchandise, Regulatory, Product Development, and vendors. You will also be responsible for creating accurate technical packs, assessing product risk, managing fittings, and delivering clear specifications and comments through all development stages from prototype to production.
Responsibilities
- Risk assessment of all product/ fabric/ trim/ performance and suitability in relation to construction and functionality.
- Responsible for sending accurate and timely technical comments, graded specs for production, liaising with vendors on daily basis at all stages proto to production.
- Identifying opportunities for cost engineering to help improve and/or maintain margin wherever possible.
- Advise care label/disclaimers and Resolution of test failures.
- Lead cross functional meetings and work closely with raw materials development, Regulatory merchandise, design, product development and sourcing.
Personal Profile
- Educated to degree level with demonstrated industry experience.
- Good knowledge of Jersey, Fibres & Yarns, Fabric Terminology, Manufacture, Finishes, Modification, Blends & Properties, Fabric Inspection, Faults & Defects.
- Good understanding of: Children’s Fit, Non-lateral body growth, Sizing, Silhouette, Grading, Lay Plans, Tolerances, pattern adaptions.
- Good understanding of Children’s Safety requirements and regulations, experienced in risk mitigation product assessment.
