JOB PURPOSE
To lead the Technical & Industrialisation teams to oversee the industrialisation, sample development, and pre-production processes in apparel manufacturing. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production. Responsibilities include introducing efficient methods and automation, providing pre-production training, and implementing best manufacturing practices from the sample stage to bulk production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Industrialisation & Process Optimisation
- Lead the transition from design/sample stage to full-scale production (NPIs β New Product Introductions).
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and production engineering methods to improve efficiency.
- Liaise with the process engineer to introduce best methods, automation and waist reduction initiatives to maximise productivity.
Technical Development & Quality Standards
- Oversee the technical evaluation of new styles and trims/raw materials, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Set technical and quality standards and specifications in collaboration with design, product engineering, and quality teams.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues, providing technical solutions quickly.
- Ensure compliance with customer and industry quality requirements.
Pre-Production & Product Engineering
- Liaise with pattern cutters and CAD room to ensure consumption optimisation.
- Approve samples, technical packs, and production files before bulk production.
- Lead risk assessments for new styles to anticipate potential manufacturing challenges.
- Coordinate pilot runs and ensure smooth handover to bulk production.
Team Leadership & Training
- Manage and develop the technical and industrialisation/sample teams. Monitor and review the teams\β weekly/monthly performance against agreed KPIs and objectives. Work with individual team members to agree and review objectives and agree personal development plans, taking action as needed to rectify under β performance.
- To champion communication, diversity and inclusion initiatives and continuously seek to improve levels of engagement and wellbeing across the team.
- Provide technical training to production staff, supervisors, and operators.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Stakeholder & Customer Liaison
- Work closely with PE/ PD teams during style development and approval stages.
- Collaborate with internal teams (production, planning, finance, quality, and engineering) to ensure seamless workflows.
- Support costing and pricing processes through accurate technical assessments.
PERSONAL PROFILE
- University degree in Textiles/Fashion, Materials and/or Chemicals Bachelor\βs degree or diploma in Textile/Clothing Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Certificate in GSD
- Extensive experience in garment manufacturing, including a technical or industrial management role.
- Strong technical knowledge of trench coat manufacturing processes (WW/MW/CHW).
- Expertise in identifying \βnon value-added operations\β, and productivity improvement.
- Skilled in pattern engineering, fabric behaviour, and garment construction.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in technical documentation and use of CAD systems (Lectra).
- Proficient in MS Office applications
