JOB PURPOSE
As an Accountant – Indirect Tax at Burberry, you\’ll work closely with the wider Tax and Finance teams to ensure that our regulatory indirect tax submissions are completed accurately and to deadlines as per the relevant tax authorities. You\’ll also be responsible for analysing data and producing reporting around indirect tax processes for senior stakeholders.
This Accountant – Indirect Tax role is offered on a 12 month FTC basis and will be based in our Queen Street, Leeds office for 3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting the timely completion of key deliverables e.g Indirect Tax returns, Intrastat processes and returns
- Preparing information to support indirect tax refund claims and tax authority audit/information requests while working to mitigate any tax assessments and penalties
- Extracting, analysing and inputting data required to produce reports around Indirect Tax reporting and reclaim processes
- Supporting the development of documentation and processes for the Indirect Tax Processing team, identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and controls around indirect tax processes
- Showing awareness of best practice Indirect Tax processing concepts, technology and methodologies and ensuring these are implemented at Burberry where possible
- Responding to ad hoc queries as required, prioritising work effectively to ensure that these are responded to on a timely basis
- Providing support to the wider Indirect Tax Processing and Statutory Accounting team when needed
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Some experience working within finance, specifically tax
- Studying towards or interest in studying towards a professional tax or accounting qualification (ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Proven Excel skills covering pivots, VLookups and Macros
- Understands the ability of technology to drive efficiencies and enhance service delivery, ideally experience with Extract, Transform, Load tools such as Alteryx and other software such as PowerBI
- Capable of analysing relevant information, identifying key issues and communicating findings clearly
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills
- Resilient, self-motivated & positive
- Independent worker with a proactive approach to problem solving
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to deliver under pressure and handle multiple priorities and operational demands
