We make health happen. Richmond Village Witney is looking to appoint a Commis Chef to join their team. The role of Commis Chef in this luxury retirement village is a unique blend of culinary skill and lifestyle balance. With no late nights or split shifts, you will enjoy a harmonious work-life rhythm while showcasing your talents across a variety of dining settings, from the intimate care home to the bustling restaurant. This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on residents' lives through the universal language of delicious food, all within the comfort of a refined and serene environment.
Passionate about food, you bring experience working in a variety of high-volume, multi-service, and quality kitchens. With expertise in diverse cuisines and cooking techniques, you possess a comprehensive understanding of the catering and hospitality industry, including Care Homes, hotels, conference centres, high-quality pubs, and restaurants, as well as outside catering.
You'll help us make health happen by:
- Catering to residents, visitors and the public across the village
- Preparing and cooking food in accordance with food hygiene regulations against a set menu to a consistent and high-quality standard
- Delivering front of house services to customers ensuring consistent standards
- Working within the extensive HACCP framework tailored to a Health Care Environment
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic working area
- Responding to residents and customers dietary needs and personal preferences
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
- Adept at catering for customers with special dietary requirements
- Solid understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally supported by an NVQ level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds and CIEH certification
- Demonstrable cooking skills
- Open to new ideas with an innovative yet organised approach to cooking
- Adhering to high standards and remaining calm during a busy service
- Enjoying working with others to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal
Because we care for vulnerable people, we'll need you to complete a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Bupa will cover the cost of this (£40).
