Job Description:

Fire Safety Officer

Location: The role would predominately cover the south of the UK prime locations around M4 Corridor: Oxford, Romford Swindon, inside or just outside M25

Permanent, full-time position: 37.5 hours
Salary range: £40,000 per annum, rising to £42,000 when signed off to carry out fire risk assessments across the portfolio.

This role is hybrid but will involve travel across the South of England so a role specific car will be provided and there is the option for hybrid/flexible working patterns

We\’re excited to announce a pivotal role in our team that combines the thrill of a fast-paced environment with the critical importance of fire safety. We can provide training for L4 diploma fire risk assessing if required.

Role Overview

As a dedicated Fire Safety Officer, you\’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, conducting thorough risk assessments and surveys to safeguard our premises.

We are actively seeking a Fire Safety Officer to cover the South of England. This is a rewarding and challenging opportunity for a subject matter expert in fire safety, and fire management. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar sector or environment and will ensure that our fire safety policies and procedures for all our properties are fully implemented and compliant with statutory obligations. What you’ll do:

  • Carry out \’detailed\’ fire safety risk assessments of Residential Care Homes, offices, dental practices, and clinics with a portfolio of up to 200 sites.
  • Carry out \’detailed\’ fire safety surveys of the fire precautions both passive and active.
  • Carry out full fire door survey’s as required either with or on the instruction of the senior fire advisor.
  • You will have to liaise and provide guidance to the home, practice and property managers with any findings and necessary actions required
  • To carry out post fire inspections when necessary
  • Be responsible for all fire safety

What you’ll bring:

  • Knowledge and understanding of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Building Regulations – Approved Document B and CLG Fire Safety Guides.
  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • IT skills – mainly using Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Knowledge and understanding of Various British Standards regarding fire safety including – BS 5839; BS 5266; BS 5306; BS 9251; BS 9999

Required Qualifications

  • Fire Safety Modules, or individual subjects including a fire risk assessment qualification, obtained from the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh (ideal but not absolutely necessary if similar courses have been attended or qualifications obtained e.g. BTEC, NEBOSH.)
  • Fire safety studies foundation degree/Fire engineering degree – advantageous
  • Graduate/Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers – or similar e.g. IFSM
