Salary: Up to £16.55 per hour dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday

Responsibilities
- Ensure that our facilities remain fully functional.
- Maintain buildings and equipment effectively while complying with all relevant Bupa Standard Operating Procedures, legislation, and industry best practices.
- Carry out health and safety and compliance checks using the provided digital systems as per the timescales directed by Bupa Standard Operating Procedures.
- Action and close any tasks attributed to the Maintenance Manager or home highlighted on Bupa compliance management tools and software.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness within the care home and grounds meets Environmental Health, local Fire Authority requirements, Legionella Risk Assessment requirements, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Complete all necessary maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard, in a timely manner, and offer value for money.
- Document and action regular reviews of residents’ preferences in relation to their personal space.
- Report defects, obtain quotes, and manage repairs using Bupa approved contractors.
- Report irreparable defects to Home Manager or Property/Maintenance Manager as appropriate.
- Manage Care Home elements of any refurbishment programme and capex programme of works ensuring minimal disruption to residents, visitors, and staff.
- Maintain and safely secure all tools and equipment at all times.
- Assist with the induction of new colleagues regarding emergency exits, fire points, and evacuation procedures.
- Provide maintenance support to local Care Homes within a reasonable distance as required.
Qualifications
- A good understanding of building services including heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing.
- Sound understanding of building fabric and its maintenance.
- Practical experience of planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and experience of compliance.
- A full driving licence.
- A building/electrical/plumbing qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC etc) or a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in property maintenance and general repairs.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Computer literate.
- Good customer service skills.
- Be flexible to meet changing demands within the care home.
- Practical ability and experience in painting and decorating.
