The Role
The Finance Manager β Financial Reporting forms part of the Financial Control team within the wider Dental Finance function. The role is to actively manage and ensure the integrity of the Bupa Dental Balance sheet, Cashflow, and Month end and quarterly submission processes internally and to MU and Group. To lead on external and internal audits, statutory accounts submissions (135 legal entities), and work closely with the Bupa tax team on corporation tax & VAT matters. To manage, coach, and develop a team of 8 Financial Accountants.
Responsibilities
The role supports the Financial Controller in the submission of consolidated Group reporting activities. To lead on the implementation and maintenance of controls, reconciliations, and consistent reporting streams to MU and Group. The main activities include:
- Overall accountability for monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables in line with tight deadlines, including managing the balance sheet and cashflow, submitting IFRS reported figures, and managing Solvency II quarterly requirements.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager β Management Accounts to ensure the end-to-end reporting cycle is completed, reported, and reconciled in line with month-end timelines.
- Lead reconciliation and review of balances, ensuring reporting aligns with accounting standards and principles, with appropriate backup maintained.
- Validate balances related to accruals, prepayments, provisions, and related charges with full supporting documentation to maintain the integrity of the balance sheet.
- Propose, develop, and implement a suite of monthly actuals reports to aid understanding and decision-making across the business regarding Capex and Property Leases.
- Provide Business Case support for Capex spend when required.
- Be data-led, ensuring relevant information is available to budget holders to make decisions, and automate data provision where possible.
- Provide evidence and sign-offs, ensuring statutory requirements are met.
- Build strong relationships with operational, commercial, and finance leadership teams, acting as a true partner.
- Perform ad hoc work as needed.
Qualifications
- Hold a professional accountancy qualification β ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years\β experience in industry or practice within various finance roles.
- Ability to present analytics and options confidently to senior leadership and executive teams, challenge robustly, and understand corporate and operational functions.
- Preferred experience in healthcare or regulated financial services.
- Ability to explain overarching finance messages to ET/ET-1 level with data and system integrity.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with a track record of achieving results without direct management authority.
- Flexible, pragmatic, and able to work under pressure, handling multiple priorities with a risk-based approach.
- Experience with lean processes is valued but not essential.
