Special Projects Business Development Manager

Location: National (primarily within the M25)

We are now recruiting for a talented and driven Special Projects Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of our national account portfolio.

Role Overview

As Special Projects Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for delivering sustainable sales growth and profitability across a portfolio of key national accounts. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and report to the Special Projects Director, playing a key role in achieving targets related to revenue, profit, digital adoption, exclusive brand development, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and exceed sales turnover and cash profit targets across assigned national accounts
  • Identify organic growth opportunities through strategic planning and data-led insights
  • Analyse customer data to develop and implement strategies that enhance sales and margins

Account Management & Customer Relationships

  • Act as the main point of contact for key decision-makers within customer organisations
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships at multiple levels across each account
  • Lead regular performance reviews and strategic planning sessions with customers

Exclusive Brand & Product Optimisation

  • Promote exclusive brand products within your customer base
  • Work with Category teams to enhance product performance and alignment with customer needs
  • Support product trials, promotional campaigns, and optimisation of product portfolios

Digital Trading & Online Conversion

  • Champion digital engagement, encouraging online ordering and use of self-service tools
  • Educate customers on the benefits of digital channels
  • Monitor and improve digital performance KPIs across your portfolio

Internal Collaboration & Strategic Contribution

  • Collaborate across departments including Operations, Finance, Product and Customer Service
  • Support cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide accurate, timely reporting and forecasting to the leadership team

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-site national accounts
  • Strong sales, negotiation and commercial planning skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to interpret data and drive customer value
  • Comfortable with digital platforms and promoting their adoption
  • Highly self-motivated and collaborative
